Quick Tip!

Let’s Talk Menopause & Stress
April is Stress Awareness Month—a perfect time to pause and reflect on how stress might be affecting your health, especially during menopause.
Menopause often arrives at a hectic stage of life: balancing work commitments, caring for children, supporting ageing parents or relatives—all while managing the everyday demands of life. Many people navigating perimenopause also hold senior roles, with workplace pressure adding to the emotional and mental load.
But stress isn’t just external. Internal stressors—such as toxins from processed foods, everyday toiletries, and environmental factors—can quietly add to the body’s stress burden. This puts added pressure on the adrenal glands, which manage the fight-or-flight response. When overworked, these glands may struggle to function efficiently, leading to both physical and emotional fatigue.
During perimenopause, the adrenal glands also try to pick up the slack in oestrogen production. But if they’re already running on empty, their ability to support hormonal balance weakens. Instead of a smooth transition, the body can become more reactive and unpredictable.
The good news? Reducing stress can significantly ease menopausal symptoms. Simple lifestyle shifts—like journaling, mindfulness, movement, balanced nutrition, staying hydrated, and reaching out for support—can help you feel more balanced and in control.
